QUIKEY REVIEWS

I'm about to start getting ready for a trip to the twin cities tomorrow to let my son enjoy his first live NFL experience, but before I start getting things together I thought I'd take the time to offer two cents on a couple of items that have found their way to my door in the past couple of weeks.

LIGHTNING BEAT MAN AND THE NEVER HEARD OF 'EMS - APARTMENT WRESTLING ROCK AND ROLL
This seems to be a lot of odds and ends from the Swiss mad man. Some of it is his one man band routine and other stuff is him being backed by a band. Some of it's live as well, seemingly from some radio broadcasts or something. There are also sound bites of stuff in between a lot of the songs that are actually pretty cool, but depending on your mood can kind of detract from the full frontal onslaught that the Beat Man is laying down.
This stuff is primitive and raw, which is nothing less than what you outta expect from the good reverend. The clanging guitar and the growling vocals do speak to the heart. Fans of the Cramps and Hasil Adkins would likely dig this, or just anybody who can appreciate wild and wooly rock and roll without any pretensions.

D.M. BOB AND THE DEFICITS - CAJUN CREOLE HOT NUTS
Forget Creedence Clearwater Revival. Born on the Bayou, FAH!! If you want swamp music, then this is absolutely the record for you. Bog Hillbilly Hootenany Music at it's finest. This is definitely what you need to be playing at your next White Lightning fueled wingding jamboree. Slap this thing on and then slug down some back yard corn mash from an old mason jar.

JERRY LEE LEWIS - LIVE AT THE STAR
This is Jerry Lee playing in Germany in '62. This thing is great and man can Jerry Lee play. He is without a doubt one of the first wild men of rock n roll. He'll even probably be the first to tell you so. If you like Jerry Lee then you really ought to have this in your record collection. If you don't like Jerry Lee, what's wrong with ya.
